Until the new
pages are completed you can still access any missing content (such as
chords or unlinked songs) from HERE. General Notes on the Albums My "albums" vary greatly in content and recorded quality. The only fully produced albums are The Fear of Yahveh (1998) and The Book of Revelation (2012). In the Day of the East Wind (1999) was half produced, but production on that album was suspended. The only tracks currently available from this album are the guitar and vocal tracks. In the meantime, I was still very productive at writing new songs. I began to learn to record my own material. The initial result was the 2001 demo of the Book of Revelation titled: APOCALYPSE. During the period in which I was writing and recording material for Baptizer of Fire (2003). I began to think a lot about playing live. My recordings began to focus more on keeping it simple and doing it in "one shot" unlike in a studio situation where each instrument is recorded separately over the course of many takes. I had always thought that the recording process stripped much of the organic life from my playing. The songs were written to be played and sung by one person, and that was how I liked to hear them; with the instrument and my voice organically resonating together. I actually like playing more than I like listening. And I think I like writing more than practicing. I began to do a lot of "live" recording sessions, playing my guitar and singing at the same time trying to capture the songs in their natural state, as well as recording a few public performances. These public recordings are lower quality and also contain mistakes and slips. It is not easy for me to sing and play perfectly, and sometimes my enthusiasm carries me away and I saturate the mic signal. I don't harbor delusions about my abilities. I do not posses a "beautiful" or dexterous voice and my guitar playing skills are very limited. That' the way it goes. There are not a lot of churches that are willing to let me play, and the ones that are willing don't always have the best recording equipment. By the time I got to "Like A Hammer" (2008), I didn't even bother to record a studio versions of many of the songs. Though it was always in the back of my mind to sit down and record these songs, the only versions of Ezekiel 13 and Jeremiah 23 that exist are live versions. While writing Songs for "Like a Hammer" I began to write a string of songs, all from Isaiah, and realized that I was going to be doing that whole book next. After recording a new version of "The Song of Moses," (Deut 32) and the studio recording of Isaiah 6, I ended work on Like a Hammer. At first I began posting songs from The Vision of Isaiah on oraclesofgod.org. By 2009 I had recorded many "scratch versions" of the songs from The Vision of Isaiah, but many of these were not very good quality, so I held some back and eventually took them all down. (They are all available again). As I began my bible study and video phase of production, I decided I would make Isaiah a "live" album and record all the songs live in front of a video camera and release them on Youtube. While I still plan on making more videos, this idea was derailed by sixteen months of intense studio recording and orchestral composition. In 2010 I began work on finishing the long neglected "retail" tracks from In the Day of the East Wind. During that work it became clear to me that I ought to focus on The Book of Revelation instead. My aim was to produce something commercial that could be sold to support my continued work. A progressive rock version of the Book of Revelation seemed to be a more commercially viable idea than an acoustic guitar and orchestra album in the spirit of The Fear of Yahveh. But Revelation has not proven to be a commercially viable album. Currently I'm working on the second installment of The Book of Revelation, chapters 12-22, I do not write or record music to sell it, but because I desire to possess these songs myself. So if the songs have not sold, it does not deter me. Further Notes for specific albums or groups of songs may be found by following the "notes and chords" link under each album's cover. ![]() |
