Subject: Is there harm?

Yesterday a close Christian brother of mine gave me a tape from Arnold Murray. It was on Gen. 1:1-2:17. He has just started to listen to the tapes, but is very excited about them. After I listened to this tape, I immediately looked up more information on "Dr." Murray. From the first tape I didn't seem to find anything that was contradictory to the Bible, but after reading further into some of his doctrine, I just got a bad feeling about it. My friend's defence is that Murray is still proclaiming Jesus as the son of God and the light of the world, so "what's wrong with digging deeper to answer the deeper questions?" I will continue to pray about this but was hoping you could help me with some scripture that might point him in the right direction before he gets too lost.

Hi, xxxxx, sorry I'm so behind, the fact that your friend is excited is not good, it sounds like he has prepared his heart to recieve something exciting.

2Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

When you described your friend as excited, this passage immediately leapt to my mind.  I completely understand the allure of looking into things that are "secret"  it makes you feel special to know abvout things that everyone else is in the dark about.  And the Bible has that, unfortunately, the doctrines that Dr. Murray teaches are not the "hidden wisdom" referred to in the letters of Paul but rather the imaginations of men.  Dr. Murray's doctrines are not sound.  When he interprets Genesis he basically asks you to disregard what the writer was trying to communicate, and look for hidden innuendos of something completely different.

I wrote extensively about Dr. Murray's Genesis interpretations, in a recent email conversation http://oraclesofgod.org/emails/email044.htm you may read the whole document and glean what you can from it but I have included the most pertinent parts below.

The Apostle Paul said that "a little leaven leavens the whole lump," (1Cor5:6) In that context, he meant....

I have excluded the copied text from that email. Follow the link just above to email #044 to read what was said in the former discussion.

I
already have more for you "what's wrong with digging deeper to answer the deeper questions?"

We should delve deeper, but the problem is we have two conflicting depths:

Rev2:24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.

and

1Cor2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

Satan has deep things and God has deep things, the question is, what is the nature of what is deep in God and what is the nature of what is deep in satan and how do we tell the difference.  For instance: Is it that the story we have recieved in Genesis practically a lie?  I don't think so, but that is the kind of "depth" that Dr. Murray promotes, you judge if that is of God.

Ps 92:55 O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.
6 A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.
7 When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever: 8 But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore.

One of the deepest things that God teaches in the word, and that people miss, is that sin is going to be the downfall of many, even many who think that they are followers of Christ even

Matt7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not ... in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Gal 5:7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? 8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. 9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

That is deep. I better not be a doer of those things!

I'm not going to go into it any further, but really, the deep things of God have to do with Judgment, mercy, and faith.  They do not have to do with things like Satan having sex with Eve, and the sons of Cain being the Jews as Dr. Murray teaches.

The question comes down to whether the so-called "deep things" are really deep things of God, or just things that seem deep, because you have to squint to see them, because they are not sound doctrines.  That is what we have here with Dr. Murray, his teachings are not deep, they are paper-thin, like a vapor or smoke, they are an illusion, they only cloud things, five feet of thick smoke can seem as deep as eternity, but only because it obstructs your vison.  Ok I'm getting too allegorical...

You might consider showing your friend my clips from Dr. Murray's 1981 prediction. I recently updated my website with more info on that.  I also have clips where Dr. Murray makes it clear that all the people we think of as Jews are indeed the sons of the devil.

Anyway, Hope this helps...more
Paul

Paul- Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my e-mail. Since I last wrote to you, the Lord has done some amazing things. I had tried to debate Dr. Murray's teachings with my friend, but all I received was rehearsed answers. I resolved my self to stop arguing and start praying. My prayer was for my friend to have ears to here the subtle  (and sometimes blatant) lies that were being told to him. After about a week, he came to me with a humble look on his face. He said that he had taken Dr. Murrays advise and checked it out for himself. His exact quote was, "That Murray guy really spouts a bunch of BS." Since that day we continue to "dig deeper" into the Word and find God's Truths, not the "truths" of a deceived man who twists God's perfect Word into a tool of self glorification and racism. Thank you again for your time. I look forward to talking with you when we meet in heaven (or possibly before that).
